1. 66 percent of the interviewees have had engaged in any one form of gambling
2. 48 percent of the interviewees has known of people personally who gamble frequently
3. 21 percent know to seek help as and when they are addicted to gambling.
4. 19 percent of the interviewees approved of the government's decision to open the casino
5. 5 percent of the interviewees have no opinion about the issue
Reasons as to why more and more people are addicted to gambling are:

-Just trying their luck
-It's easy money
-Greed
-The prize money is very attractive
-For the thrill of it
-It is a viscous cycle. When people lose they will keep trying till they win something back and when they have won, they will continue

Advantages:
-Higher revenue for the government
-Higher employment rate
-Better economy

Disadvantages:
-It will result in more family breakups
-It will cause more people to be addicted to gambling
-Higher bankruptcy rate
-Higher crime rate

Survey by the government, 58% of Singapore residents aged 18 and above said that they participated in at least one form of gambling over the past one year. Shown below is the statistics provided

Chinese (68%) Malay (12%) Indian (30%)
-Residents aged 30 to 49 (63%-69%)
-Residents with post-secondary education (66%-67%)
-Residents with average monthly personal income of $2000 or more (70% to 74%)
